Out of the breaking up of the creative scandal factory which appears to be the fate of The Unsafe House, mr. Sina Khani is now popping up in a new film that will have its premiere August 27th, 2026. It seems he is not the director of it, but plays the main role.
Readers and listeners of Radio Neverno know they were the first ones being informed on inside information on the breaking up of the original Creeps From The Middle East Team, where all crew members and even actors have left main star Sina Khani behind, he ended up in The Unsafe House in Amsterdam, an initiative of Tarik Sadouma and Ruth Spetter.
What will happen to his "live long film series", now renamed in Creeps OF the Middle East (in stead of "From the Middle East"), is still unclear. He appears though in two other movies at the same time, you can not say the guy is a lazy bum.
But now also the latest core team of The Unsafe House, fell apart again: Khani has left the community and Sadouma and co go on with their team of film makers. It is unclear how their relationship really is at the moment. Sadouma says he has no hard feelings but Khani has "some issues" to solve.
Latest News was that Sina Khani, who worked and lived for at least 1.5 years in the dwellings of The Unsafe House, now is living with his girlfriend, we hope not out on the streets, desperately looking for a new house or appartment, but, for romantics, as a real artist, is still making movies. His new project: Sina Songwriter, premieres Aug. 27th and the trailer makes us curious: Is he the director or just the main actor or both?
Sina Khani seems to have managed to get a whole new team together or should we say a whole team has managed to get Sina Khani together and the resulting trailer promises a lot on the movie, it has this almost 90´s American feel to it, with a chewing gummed American voice over in a trailer as if we are looking to a new release of, let's say, Cheech and Chong or the like and are transported back to the top days of American B movies in the 1980´s and 1990´s.
Now we have much more , sensitive, information on the demeanors and challenges of Sina Khani, but we keep that, still, for ourselves. Our favorite Creep from the Middle East, as he is introduced in the trailer, manages to pop out in a new film every year now, and we start to admire him for that, also that he manages to get a pro team believing in his talents on this short term. How he did this, how he got employed in this apparently Dutch film making team we wanna and will find out soon again.
We hope, he is not really moving to one of the most dead cities in The Netherlands, Eindhoven.
In the mean time, The Unsafe House team published a new movie, Scorched Earth, which we had the honour to see in full, more on this film below théir trailer.
The complete Scorched Earth film is very entertaining and well edited for its first 45 minutes but then becomes a bit long and slow, trying too much to make a point, which is focusing on the cancellation of The Unsafe House by the Art School of Leipzig where they first were invited by Ronja Brainstorm, the self proclaimed art whore, a young Danish student at that academy, for her final exam project.
She stumbled into The Unsafe House and their dwellings but in the end decided to get out of it again, fed up as she was in particular with Khani. This refusal to become a permanent member of the Unsafe House cult and the loss of another soul to art institutions that are, according to Sadouma, still very woke, apparently also has annoyed Sadouma so much he decided to make a full movie out of it, combining reality soap story lines with A.I. animations and playing again with his fascination for building a ´feminist harem´, trying to provoke the woke art incrowd that he sees in all institutions now.
To our opinion, the film is really about the crusade of Sadouma and co against woke agendas and the apparent instrumentalisation of art for other, often political and cultural, activist, ends. Provocation and wit are their ultimate weapons, intending to be a kind of court jokers of the established art domain, their mission in the end being the maximum freedom of expression as professional artists.
If you think woke is over, Sadouma will convince you to think again...his cameras even catch Curtis Yarvin crying...
Next to Sina Songwriter, mr. Khani also stars in the Scorched Earth movie, that's focusing on the cancellation of The Unsafe House of its participation in the end exam installation of Ronja Brainstorm at the Art Academy of Leipzig in Germany.
Ronja Brainstorm visited the Unsafe House and was at the beginning very excited by this artist community, where even the original Unsafe House members (Maria van der Velde and editor Ben Sampson) still were active at the time of shooting.
Her invitation to the Unsafe House to be part of her graduation project was refused by the academy after a written protest letter by a group of activist students, claiming The Unsafe House is autoritarian, reactionary, right wing and even "fascist", claiming it to being tied to the American Dark Enlightenment prophet Curtis Yarvin.
The protest letter referred also to the exhibition in Project Space Rosalux in Berlin in December 2024-January 2025, curated by Kuiperdomingos Projects, a cooperation between Dutch artist and art space 411 initiator Hans Kuiper and Rosalux initiator Tiny Domingos, in which the collective performed and showed an installation, while Maria Van der Velde and Ruth Spetter were running around in "Russian outfits".
The letter turned out to be succesful, as The Unsafe House was not allowed to be part of the graduation show of Ronja Brainstorm, even when one of the curators wrote an open letter to the students and the academy explaining why he invited The Unsafe House, seeing it as being currently a relevant underground artist collective in Amsterdam.
Ronja Brainstorm decided to leave her cooperation with the collective behind, fearful it might endanger her graduation at the Leipzig academy, according to some members of the collective.
Especially this "surrender" annoyed Sadouma the most, as he sees a young artist like Ronja Brainstorm succumb to institutional pressure and leave her fundamental protest against the "conservative academy" behind "out of fear for her artistic career", as Khani once formulated it.
The film also shows the actual visit of the collective to an alternative location in a park in Leipzig, where Sadouma delivers a speech and is interviewed by students that áre open for dialogue.
